Checked 23 October 2026

Rockstar has not announced the unlock time or the download size yet.

Release date and time

GTA 6 comes out on 19 November 2026; Rockstar has not announced what time it unlocks.

• Date: 19 November 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, confirmed by Rockstar Games and Take-Two.
• Unlock time: not announced by Rockstar or PlayStation as of 23 October 2026. Sites that give an exact time are guessing.
• Pre-load: not announced yet either. The store listing will show it when it opens.

Follow the countdown on our release times page; we add the unlock time there once it is official.

Price in India and other countries

The PS5 Standard Edition is ₹5,999 in India, the 2nd cheapest of 17 countries we track.

“About” amounts use exchange rates from 22 October 2026. The US price is before sales tax.

The Ultimate Edition is $99.99 in the US; we have no confirmed Indian price for it yet. Digital copies are tied to your account’s country, so you cannot buy from a cheaper store.

See the price in your currency on our GTA 6 page, or read where GTA 6 is cheapest.

Which consoles can run it

Only PS5 and Xbox Series X|S; there is no PC version at launch.

In India the PS5 is sold officially at ₹69,990 (disc) and ₹64,990 (Digital). For the Xbox Series X, the official Indian price after the August 2026 rise is not confirmed.

PS5 or PS5 Pro for GTA 6?

A regular PS5 is enough: Rockstar has not announced anything extra for the PS5 Pro yet.

• Performance: Rockstar has not published frame rates or modes for any console. We will not guess.
• In India: Not launched officially in India; not on Sony India’s store. The cheapest way to get one in India is to buy it in Japan for ¥137,980 and carry it home: about ₹86,220 with duty.
• What the Pro has: a 2 TB SSD and no disc drive in the box (Sony’s PS5 Pro page).

If you already own a PS5, keep it. If you are buying one now, read our Diwali PS5 deals checklist.

How much storage you need

Rockstar has not published the file size yet; it will be on the PlayStation and Xbox store listings before launch.

• Check your free space: our storage calculator uses the real usable space of each console.
• Why an SSD: PS5 games must be installed on the internal SSD or an M.2 SSD to play; a USB drive can only store them (PlayStation support).
• Adding an M.2 SSD: it must be PCIe Gen4 with a heatsink (Sony’s SSD guide).

How long the download takes

It depends on the size, which is not announced; here is an example so you can plan.

This uses an example size of 150 GB, not the real one, and assumes about 85% of your line speed reaches the console. Put in the real size and your own speed in the download time calculator.
